The moorland above Millstone Edge is transformed every summer by a wonderful display of Common Heather (Calluna vulgaris) flowers. Silver Birch (Betula pendula) is the typical tree species found here, where it thrives on the sandy soil and can tolerate harsh weather conditions. Sudden stormy light briefly illuminates the scene.
