Shadows play across Parkhouse Hill, making the rocky pinnacle stand out from the surrounding hill. A spring bubbles up from near Dowall Cave and flows through grazing pastures on its way to join the River Dove. In spring the brook swells with extra rain running off the hillsides, flooding into the surrounding grasses.
