Robin Hood's Stride formation, seen from the west. Only one of the two distinctive towers can be seen here, the other is hidden by a Common Oak (Quercus robur). It is a large outcrop of sandstone rising from Harthill Moor, surrounded by trees such as Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) growing among an old stand of oak. Legend states that Robin Hood strode from one tower to the other, a distance of 15 metres.
