A paved footpath leads from Hook's Car, to the popular eastern end of Stanage Edge over wet moorland. The mix of sedges, rushes and grasses, known as rush pasture, grows in the damp soil below the edge, glowing gold in the autumn sunshine. As the terrain ascends and the soil becomes drier, russet coloured Brackens (Pteridium aquilinum) take over.
