Storm over Rum Cuillin, May 2010

The view from Cleadale Beach on Eigg's west coast is dominated by the Rum Cuillin, which are the massively eroded bases of ancient volcanoes. The mountains are a singularly impressive sight as storm clouds gather over their lofty summits. The beach itself is formed from pale quartz and dark basalt grains, causing the characteristic silver-grey appearance.
