Cleiteadh nan Sgarbh, quartz porphyry and granite, May 2010

A large granite pebble lodged in quartz porphyry at Cleiteadh nan Sgarbh, on Arran's west coast. Sizeable quartz crystals can be seen in cross section suspended in the igneous rock matrix where waves have polished everything smooth.
