The ruins of Balnakeil Church overlook the beautiful bay. Founded in 722 by St. Maelrubha, as he went on his mission around Scotland's northwest coast. The present building dates from 1619 but fell into disuse at the time of the Highland clearances of the 1800's. Part of the Northwest Highlands Geopark.
